Driftbusters January News Letter 2013

January News Letter 2013

Hello Everyone,

Merry Christmas and  Happy New Year.   I can’t believe 2014 is just a few days away.  We have a few inches of snow but we need more before we can start grooming.  We just received word that the delivery of our new groomer has been delayed a couple more weeks. But with the bitter cold temperatures we have been having riding the snowmobile trail would not be that enjoyable anyway.

The snowmobile trail was inspected by the state and the changes have been made.  The new informational signs have been put in throughout the trail system telling you the services offered on the trail and how many miles it is to them.  A big thank you to Sunny & Stacey Pence for heading up this project.  They look awesome.

The Parade of  Lights was cancelled because of the bitter cold so the SDSA trailer that we were going to decorate for this event did not work out.  A big thank you to Ken’s Fairway and Curt’s Motorsports for letting us park the SDSA trailer on their lots for everyone to see.  The trailer is now on display in Watertown.

The Poinsett Pounders will be having their Governor’s Winter Games Jan. 17, 18, 19, 2014, and the 34th. annual Governor’s ride in the Black Hills will be Feb. 15, 2014 so check the Sno Plainsman for more information.

The Club is planning a radar run and steak feed on Sat. Feb. 1 at the Richmond Oasis.  Please check with our web site for more information on this as well as any trail rides coming up.

I would like to challenge every member to sign up a new member to our snowmobile club, and be sure and tell them that when they sign up they get 2 free buffet meals at the Pizza Ranch.  We need all of the new members we can get to keep our club going

Think more snow and a little warmer temps and I will see you at the next meeting on Jan. 2, 2014 at the Pizza Ranch at 7:30 pm.

December News Letter 2013

Hello Everyone,

The SDSA convention in Huron is in the books.  A big thank you to the Town and Country Snowdrifters for putting on an awesome convention.  A big thank you to all our members that were nominated for awards.

This past weekend was the safety training course which involved the new safety training simulator.  Thank you to Corey Gelling for conducting the course. Aberdeen American News sent over a reporter to take some pictures and interview Corey.  The course was a great success.

The snowmobile trail for the most part has been marked except for a few fields that we are waiting for the farmers to finish getting their crops off.  Grooming can start Dec. 1 if we have snow.  We are still waiting for a definite date when we will get our newer groomer from the hills so might have to use our old groomer if we get snow by Dec. 1.

The SDSA trailer that has the simulator inside has been parked in front of Ken’s Fairway on display for everyone to see.  It has all the logos painted on the sides promoting snowmobiling. We are planning on putting it in the parade of lights on Dec.6th. unless the next club scheduled to use the simulator comes to get it before then.

Would like to remind all new members that were signed up this year to please come early to the Pizza Ranch before our next meeting on Dec. 5th. to get your free buffet pizza meals.  Still looking for more new members so if you know of anyone wanting to join please bring them to the next meeting and we will get them signed up and get them 2 free buffet meals donated by the Pizza Ranch.

We have 2 trail rides scheduled for Dec.  so please check our web site for more updates.

A reminder that membership dues must be paid by the end of Dec. to stay on the membership list and receive the SnoPlainsman.

See you at our next meeting on Dec.5th. at 7:30 pm at the Pizza Ranch.
