September 2015 Newsletter

Hello Everyone,

Looks like summer is about over as school has started and the nights are getting cooler. Hope everyone had a great summer. Now it is time to start thinking about fall and winter. Let’s hope mother nature will be kind to us and give us lots of snow for snowmobiling.

Our first meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 3 at 7:30 pm at the Pizza Ranch.

I encourage all members to make an extra effort to attend as we will be discussing a lot of things for the upcoming season.

First off is our membership drive and campout Sept. 18-19 at Wylie Park campground. There are still a few camping spots left, so if you haven’t already reserved your spot please call Vicki at 626-3512 or 626-7015 and be sure and tell her you are with the Aberdeen Driftbusters Snowmobile Club. We will be finalizing the activities for the campout weekend at the Sept. meeting and they will be posted at a later date on our web site. As we have stated in the past every member is welcome to come join us for a fun weekend whether you have a camper or not.

The Aberdeen Driftbusters will be hosting the 2016 Snowmobile Convention in Nov. so we will be busy this winter working out all the details for that. Anyone wanting to volunteer please come to the Snowmobile meetings as we will need all the volunteers we can get to help with this event.

There are no changes to the snowmobile trail so the trail will be following the same route as in the past. If any of the trail leaders have any questions or need any extra supplies for their section of the trail please contact James Gelling or Jim Weaver.

The club ride in the Black Hills last winter, which was held the same weekend as the Deadwood SnoCross, was a great success so hope we can do it again this year.

We will be discussing putting together a float for the Gypsy Day parade and if we want to continue putting on a scene for the Haunted Forest. We will need a lot more volunteers than we had last year to continue having this event. As I would like to remind everyone that the money we get from the Haunted Forest pays for renting the Go Karts at the campout every fall.

Enclosed in this newsletter is the statement you need to fill out and return to continue being a Driftbusters member. You can bring it to the campout or mail it to us along with your dues and be sure to do so as soon as possible to make sure your name gets on the mailing list for the Sno Plainsman. I challenge all members to get your friends, relatives, neighbors to join our club so we can win back the trophy for the largest club in the state as we were 1 member short of having the largest club last year.

I would like to thank Greg Jensen for kindly letting us use the back room of the Pizza Ranch for our monthly meetings and I encourage every member to patronize the Pizza Ranch and whenever you see Greg say Thank You.

See you Sept. 3rd. at the Pizza Ranch at 7:30 pm.

James Gelling, President
