Driftbusters April Newsletter

Hello Everyone,

Well it has happened the snowmobile season is officially over and we never were able to ride the trail or groom it. So it is time to put our snowmobiles away and get our campers, motorcycles and boats out for the summer. Our first order of business is to remove all of our snowmobile trail markers. It looks like the farmers are all going to be in the field real soon because of the dry warm conditions we are getting, so everyone should get their markers out as soon as possible even though the manual says we have until May 1st. Trail leaders please contact Jim Weaver as soon as you get your section out.

Our last meeting of the year will be April 9th. at 7:30 pm at the Pizza Ranch. Please note that the reason the meeting was moved ahead one week was because of Easter.  I am asking everyone to attend this meeting because we will be discussing a lot of things for next year.

Jeff Thorne is President elect for next year but he has stated that if we can elect someone else to be president next year then he will take the president’s job for 2017 when we will be hosting the state convention. So anyone that would be willing to take the president’s job for next year please come to the meeting and volunteer.   We also need to elect 2 new board members as Corey Gelling and Lee Olson’s term will be up. Cheryl Gelling and Jim Friedt have agreed to be our secretary and treasurer for next year. A big thank you to Cheryl and Jim for the   awesome job they do.

We will be putting together our trail proposal for next year and in addition to turning in our hours of volunteer time for the 2014-2015 season.

It has been suggested that we have a spring campout so anyone with any ideas please come to the meeting and we can discuss it.

We will also be discussing putting a float together for the Gypsy day parade.

Discussion will be held on the National Hall of Fame nomination of Duane Sutton.

The pizza/swim party will be held Sunday, April 12th. at the Super 8 East motel. A meeting room has been reserved next to the pool and swimming starts at 1pm and pizza will be served at 5:30pm. Please contact Wanda Gelling at 216-2349 if you plan on attending so we know how many pizza’s to order.

Our fall membership drive and campout will be Sept. 18-19 at the Wylie Park campground. This is the weekend after Hay Days. We were able to reserve the same camp sites as we have in the past. They are sites 61-68, 77-81, and 87-89. The club house has been reserved for Sat. evening. Please contact Vicki at 626-3512 or 626-7015 to reserve your camp site. Don’t forget to mention that you are with the Aberdeen Driftbusters snowmobile club. Your site must be reserved before Sept. 1st. Please note that you do not have to have a camper to come join us for a weekend of fun. Watch for more updates on our web site.

Please plan on attending the April 9th. meeting at the Pizza Ranch at 7:30pm.
