| Congratulations to Kenny Ham, member of
the Driftbusters, who received the “Groomer of the Year” award at this
year’s SDSA Convention. We appreciate all of the time that he puts
into our trail system - signing it for safe riding and grooming it during
the season for excellent riding! Other members of the Driftbusters who
were nominated for Snowmobilier of the Year Awards include Cheryl Gelling
– Women, Chris Ulrich – Man, and the Gelling Family – Family. Thanks to
all of you for your commitment to our club and our sport.
Poinsett Pounders put on a FANTASTIC SDSA
convention this year. We have our work cut out for us in the next
year to produce another great convention. Please keep your calendars
marked for November 9 – 10, 2012 for the SDSA Convention that we will be
hosting at the Ramkota. It will take the commitment and volunteering
of all of our members to make it a success.
The Dakota Midland Trail has been marked.
THANK YOU to the volunteers who made this happen. If you ride the
trail, remember that you are riding only because someone volunteered
and helped put it in. Thank the groomers, as you meet them on the
trails this year, for keeping your trail groomed and safe for riding.
Ryan Raynor, SD Trails Coordinator, has
put in his resignation. He will stay on through this snowmobiling
season and will then move into a new position as Camp Manager at Farm Island.
We thank him for his help these past years and wish him the best in his
new position.
The Driftbusters will be hosting a trail
ride on Saturday, January 7 – leaving at 1 p.m. from the Oasis at Richmond.
We will return to the Oasis for a steak feed. Steak feed will begin
serving at approximately 6 p.m. The steak feed will take place with or
without snow so mark your calendars now. See the calendar below for
a list of planned trail rides beginning in January.
When adequate snow has fallen, grooming
will begin on all trails in the eastern part of the state. Grooming
can officially begin in the Black Hills on December 15. Please remember
to invite a friend to go snowmobiling this year and remember to invite
your snowmobiling buddies to join SDSA and their local club. In order
to continue this sport, we need the help of ALL snowmobiliers to belong
to the organized group that works hard to keep snowmobiling a possibility
for us.
January’s membership meeting will be the
first Thursday of the month, January 5 at 7 p.m. at the Pizza Ranch.
May everyone enjoy a blessed Christmas and safe travel through the New
Year!
Ride Safe – Ride Smart!
