Driftbusters March 5th. Meeting minutes

 

Meeting called to order by Pres. James Gelling. There was a very small group of members present due to the fact that several of our members were out west snowmobiling.

   Copies of the February meeting minutes were handed out by Cheryl Gelling, Secretary for everyone to read. President James Gelling asked if everyone had read the minutes and if there were any corrections or additions needed to be made. If not he asked for a motion to accept the minutes. Motion was made to accept the minutes by Jim Friedt and seconded by Ken Ham. Motion carried.

   Treasures report by Jim Friedt. Motion to approve was made by Dan Rohbach and seconded by Evan Halvorson. Motion carried.

   Committee reports:

SDSA report by Jeff Thorne.   The scholarship applications for funds were due the 25th. of February. The Governors ride went well and everything turned out good.

   Advisory report; nothing to report at this time.

   Trail report: we can groom until the 31st. of March and then everyone will have to start removing their trail markers.

   Emergency reaction; nothing to report at this time.

   Safety report; nothing to report at this time.

   Charity;   $360 was given to Make-A-Wish from our poker ride, a picture was taken of Jim Gelling presenting the check to 2 ladies from Make-A-Wish in front of the trophy case at the Pizza Ranch but haven’t seen it in the Aberdeen News yet. $110 and canned goods was given to the Salvation Army Food Pantry. Jeff Thorne stated he needs an hours count of donated hrs for charity to turn in this month.

   Publicity; The arcticle in the American News about our club and trail system was good.

   Activities; The steak feed had a great turnout and thanks for everyone that helped. The steaks were awesome.

   Monthly news article; Ann Nagel and Tracy Olson will write this article for the April Sno Plainsman.

   Old business; nothing to report.

   New business; The Pizza/swim party will be held Sunday, April 12th. at the Super 8 East motel. A meeting room has been reserved next to the pool. Swimming starts at 1pm and pizza will be served at 5:30. Please contact Wanda Gelling at 216-2349 if you plan on attending so we know how many pizza’s to order.  

   Discussion was held on doing something different for our last meeting in April. Dan Rohbach suggested that we have a spring campout at Wylie Park sometime in April and conduct our last meeting there. Cheryl Gelling was asked to send out an email to all members for their input on the April meeting.

   The fall campout is scheduled on Sept. 18th. & 19th. at Wylie Park campground. This is the weekend after Hay Days. We were able to reserve the same camp sites as we have in the past. They are sites 61 through 68, 77 through 81, and 87 through 89. The club house has been reserved for Sat. evening. Please contact Vicki at 626-3512 or 626-7015 to reserve your camp site. Don’t forget to mention that you are with the Aberdeen Driftbusters Snowmobile Club. Your site must be reserved before Sept. 1st. Watch for more updates on our web site.

   Dan Rohbach volunteered to organize the float for the Gypsy Day parade, which is Sept. 26th.

   Discussion was held on the election of officers to be voted on at the April meeting. We need a new president elect and 2 board members. Cheryl Gelling and Jim Friedt agreed to be Sec. and Treasurer another year. Jeff Thorne who is president elect now said he would gladly let someone else be president for next year 2015 and that he would be president in 2016. Joey Nagel was nominated to be president for next year and Evan Halvorson said he would take one of the board member positions for next year. We still need another board member for next year.  

   Discussion was held on the National Hall of Fame nomination for Duane Sutton. Our club has been asked to send any information, such as a letter or letters of support, photo’s of Duane, and newspaper articles about Duane’s snowmobile involvement from over the years.
